Implementing Self-Care during Covid 19 Pandemic

Adjusting to the new norm can be difficult with everything going on and I’m sure you are feeling the stress. Stress can lower your immune system and affect your emotional health and your relationships. Here are a few tips on implementing self-care for yourself during this time of crisis.

1) Limit news and negativity. Yes, you need to be informed about what’s going on in the world right now but letting it consume your focus and your thoughts is not helpful, in fact, it may cause you to feel anxious. Surround yourself with positivity and encouragement that is uplifting. The truth is that we could all use a little hope during a time like this.

2) Do small activities throughout your day that you love. When you are doing things that help you feel fulfilled and energized it will make you more production for the rest of your day.

3) Get enough rest at night. Quality sleep is very important to your mental and physical health. If you are not getting the rest you need, it can affect your overall health and immune system.

4) Take breaks throughout your day. We all need breaks to help us feel refreshed and renewed. Taking a break keeps us from losing focus and feeling “burn out.”

5) Be kind to yourself. Realize that what’s going on in the world right now is very difficult to navigate and that you are doing your best. Don’t give up and know that this situation will not last forever.
