Build Your Tribe

We live in a day of age where friendships are hard to cultivate organically. Today’s world is busy and overstretched in so many ways. We find it hard to balance work, life, marriage and raising children. So, who has time to cultivate friendships? Friendship is like any other relationship, if you want it grow, you must spend time nurturing the relationship. Here are some tips on how to build your tribe and why it’s so important in today’s world. How do you do it?

1) Make connections and build relationships. We must make the effort by getting involved in a local group, joining a small group at church, or doing activities that you enjoy like taking classes at a gym or attending a social where you’ll meet like-minded people. Chances are you won’t become besties right away, but it’s a start.

2) Strive to be the friend you want to have. We attract like-minded people, which means as we become more encouraging, supportive, kind, forgiving and helpful we also attract those kinds of people.

3) Some friendships are part of our tribe for only a season. Sometimes we outgrow that season of life or we are simply just moving in a different direction, and that’s okay. Why is community important?

1) We need the encouragement and support of others. Life sometimes deals us a bad hand, or we are struggling to walk through a difficult season. We need each other for both the ups and downs of life.

2) We thrive in community. We succeed when we have others there to help and to cheer us on. The truth is that life is better with others.
