Parenting – Surviving or Thriving?

Parenting can be the toughest job in the world and in our busy, materialistic world, we often lose focus of what’s important in life. We want to help you thrive instead of just survive so we’d like to suggest a few of the most valuable things you can give your kids.

1) Start by making changes in your own life. Be intentional with your time, money and energy. Prioritize your values and decide what changes need to be made. Your kids will learn far more by your example than by lecturing them.

2) Give your children the gift of time. Instead of “things,” shared experiences, outings, and vacations will make incredible memories that will last a lifetime.

3) Try to get your kids to spend less time on TV, gaming and social media and more time doing hands-on activities. Playtime fosters the imagination and creativity, AND encourages physical activity. This leads to better physical and mental health for the whole family.

4) Teach them the importance of meaningful friendships. Engaging in face-to-face communication, active listening and simple kindness will make them much happier than having a multitude of followers on a social media account. Show them that people are more important than things.
