Family Fitness- Improving Communication

We live in a busy world and our families are always on the go but has our modern lifestyle and technology made it more difficult for families to have a close bond? Today we are giving tips to help improve communication with your family.

1) Family time must be prioritized. Schedule routine family time for activities and team building exercises. Try to eliminate distractions by putting away the phones and other technology during family dinners, activities and game night.

2) Create a safe space for everyone to feel heard and validated without fear of criticism. Show empathy to each other and try to actively listen to what is being said and how they feel. When conflict arises use that as an opportunity to model conflict resolutions. Working through conflict brings families closer together.

3) Establish family traditions. Every family is unique and discuss together what values are most important that you would like to see carried out as a ritual in your family. Create family memories that you can pass down to the following generation.
