Never Stop Dating!

One of the secrets of a successful marriage is to never stop dating. However, in the busy world we live in today, it is difficult to prioritize time for a date night. Romance and intimacy may be the furthest thing from our mind with other constant stressors competing for our attention with our spouse. The truth is that, like anything else, marriage requires work and intentionality. If we don’t prioritize time with our spouse, the relationship will naturally drift apart. Here are a few ways to prioritize romance and intimacy in your relationship.

1) Schedule date nights regularly. Decide on the best time throughout the month and set a reminder. This lets your spouse know that they are prioritized in your relationship.

2) Taylor your dates to fit your unique relationship. Dates can be planned for any time of day and can be as simple as meeting for breakfast, doing a fun activity or planning a romantic night at home by cooking together. Set the mood by turning on relaxing music and opening a bottle of wine. The goal is to have time alone to bond and reconnect with your spouse.

3) Set healthy boundaries on date nights. Don’t let daily conversation spill over into date night. Make sure it doesn’t become a time for problem-solving and discussing to-do lists or what’s going on with the kids. Yes, all of this is important, but date night is about nurturing your relationship.

4) Plan romantic getaways at least quarterly. Yes, we all need a night away with our spouse to disconnect from the daily stresses of life and other distractions.
